Meet the Pastor On February 12th, 1870 at the request of several brothers and sisters, sensing the leadership of the Holy Spirit, a group met at the home of George Parker for the purpose of organizing a church body. With nineteen charter members, Mount Zion Baptist Church was born Although many changes have taken place over the 132 years since our church was organized, there is one thing that has not changed, and that is the purpose of our church - to reach our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The same motivation that led those original nineteen members to start a church, still drives us today. The Bible says "Eye hath not seen, nor heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for those that love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9 I believe that God has great things in store for Mt. Zion Baptist Church. If we are faithful in serving and loving the Lord, our community, and each other, then none of us will be able to fathom the blessings God has prepared for us.
